The company was established by Colin van Roon in 1988 as a small family-run freight forwarder specializing in the importation of abaca fibre by ocean freight from the Philippines, which is used in the production of teabags and coffee filter papers.
The company has been able to handle abaca from all Philippine and Ecuadorian abaca fibre and pulp producers, on behalf of all abaca-based specialty paper mills in the UK, Europe and the USA. While continuing to handle the initial import business, recent expansion now includes ocean exporting and importing and exporting air freight, principally for UK specialist paper mills. This involvement in specialist paper materials has enabled the company to handle X-Trades ocean shipping for most of our paper-based clients.
Additionally, the company undertakes supply chain management on behalf of UK trading companies, from the placement of their purchase orders through to delivery to their end customers in the UK. Most of the supply countries are based in Southeast Asia and China.
In early 2008, Mr. van Roon sold a controlling interest to Mr. Michael Raeuber and his family who represented the Royal Cargo Group and the company is now called RC Combined Logistics Ltd.
